Top Five Friday! Colorado Paid Sick Leave reminders

1. Employees earn 1 hour of paid leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.

2. Sick leave is for all employees - regardless of company size and part or full time.

3. Sick leave does NOT: a. ever go above 48 hours, b. ever get paid out upon separation, or c. require documentation unless missing more than 3 consecutive days (Cannot Request Doctor's Note unless out for 4+ days!).

4. Sick leave may be used for employee or family member: a. with Mental/Physical illness or injury needing preventative care, diagnosis, or care/treatment OR b. needing time off for care, legal help, or wellness related to domestic violence, sexual abuse, or criminal harassment.

5. COVID Public Health Emergency - renewed through February 8, 2023: bucket of 80 paid hours for Covid needs including employee or family: Illness, isolation, testing, or vaccination & side effects. 80 hours is a one time grant, for all employees (including new), is separate from sick leave, and never renews.
